If you have a musculoskeletal problem that is not settling on its own, having it properly assessed is a reasonable step. It is also worth discussing with your GP, particularly if you have other health conditions or are taking medication that is relevant.
Reasonable reasons to book
- Pain that has not improved after a couple of weeks
- A problem that keeps coming back, which usually means the underlying loading pattern has not changed
- Something that is stopping you doing things that matter to you
- Pain travelling into an arm or leg
See a doctor first if
You have loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the groin or inner thighs, progressive limb weakness, severe pain following significant trauma, or pain with unexplained weight loss, fever or night pain that does not change with position. These need medical assessment, not an appointment with us.
What happens if it is not right for you
You get told. Part of the first visit is working out whether what you have is something chiropractic can help with. If it is not, you will get a clear explanation and a specific recommendation about who to see instead. Being told no on the first visit is a considerably better outcome than six weeks of treatment that was never going to work.
